Discovery Workshops

A series of workshops was held to have all stakeholders sit down and lay out all thoughts and ideas regarding wallet matters.

Part 1: Problem State Analysis

1st workshop:

  • Validate Biz Model
  • Identify & validate Pains & Gains

2nd workshop:

  • Produce & map initiatives
  • Prioritize initiatives

Part 2: Concept Ideation

Pre-workshop activity:

  • Stakeholders to review the concept prepared by the wallet team
    • Briefly review the concept list
    • Identify your concerns regarding
      • Product concept
      • Pros & Cons of the concept
      • Challenges during actual operation
      • Your suggestions on improvements

Workshop:

  • Do the following steps for each concept:
    • Concept presentation
    • Concept discussion & voting
    • Next concept

Part 3: Concepts Scoring(this part did not happen)

Due to the large number of participants across time zones and a constrained timeline, this part of the workshop didn't happen. However, all stakeholders successfully voted and finalized the solution concept.

Problem

We sat down with all stakeholders to discover new problems for Ronin Wallet and received a lot of feedback. Two crucial problems emerged during the series of workshops: business partners don't receive enough support from the Ronin Wallet team to grow their userbase, and loyal users don't have any motivation except financial purposes to come back to the app.

With the results from the workshops, we saw a big opportunity to help partners widen their acquisition funnel, and at the same time serve loyal users better.

Research

Through a series of workshops with the Biz, Growth and C-suite teams, and after days of synthesizing, we were able to uncover these pain points.

Common pain points

  • No reason to return to Ronin Wallet

Most gamers don't touch Ronin Wallet for reasons other than financial ones. This made retention rate and usage time suffer, and Ronin Wallet is missing out on big opportunities.

  • Not providing enough support to studio partners

The Ronin Wallet team sat outside of game publishing operations, causing partners to be unaware of the team, so they often didn't reach out for support.

  • Wallet loyal users may feel that they are underserved

We received this feedback from the Growth team. Typically, loyal users should be able to enjoy various rewards from the business so they stay happy and are willing to try other services as we upsell, but they don't have anything like that on Ronin Wallet.

Solution

A quest system that allows studio partners to create various quests with exciting game activities to hook users in via Ronin Wallet. From the user's perspective, Ronin Wallet now brings joy and offers a lot of new things to try every day.

Partner side:

  • Quest operation system to navigate all the necessary steps to publish quests
  • Support from the Wallet team to integrate new activities' APIs
  • Support from Wallet in auditing activity results
  • Having a reward distribution system

Impact

With the success of helping Atia's Legacy achieve 26% (130K/500K) of its playtest launch KPI within a very short time, Ronin Bounties proved that the Wallet is an effective engagement hub for all things Ronin.
